Woodcarving Page

In 1987 I carried an unfinished carving of a humpback whale into a Fremont Wood Carvers meeting. I was having a problem with coming up with a way to carve the flippers on the body. They answered my questions and I have been carving ever since.

When I first started carving I thought all carvings must be carved from one continuous piece of wood, nothing could be attached. Upon realizing that the grain of the wood can cause certain areas to be to fragile I had to re-think the process. Then I discovered that many people carved legitimate carvings in sections and later assembled them into a finished piece.

Now I would like to share what I have learned about woodcarving with others. The Gallery contains some photos of some of my work. The Links button will take you to a page where you can find some interesting web sites in the carving world.
